Just one of the many reasons...

I knew wedding planning was going to be a lot work and even more complicated because we are getting married in California and planning from Arizona. Two weeks ago, we drove out to LA to meet with both a baker and a florist (and take care of other wedding tasks). Our Saturday was fully booked with meetings including one with the florist was at 7 pm so we planned around that appointment. We met the baker, had lunch, researched hotels, ran some errands all while Bobby was a champ (his knee had been really bugging him all day long).

By 6:30, we drove out to the florist shop, drove around looking for a parking spot, scrambled for change for the parking meter...and walked up to the shop. It looked dark inside. Rather than jump to conclusions, I was trying to talk myself into thinking..."they're in the back...they just put up the closed sign and turned off the lights so people wouldn't come into the shop." I called the florist and cringed when I could hear the phone ringing inside the shop. I tried it again and I could feel both Bobby and I getting mad over this. So this is where I had choice...I could totally blow up over something that was completely out of my control (despite the multiple confirmations) or I could just let it go.

=sigh= JUST LET IT GO.

We walked back to the car in the chilly weather in silence. As we drove away, I thought again "Just let it go. Just let it go." I was so disappointed that I really wasn't paying attention to where we were going...I just knew it wasn't back to Corona. Minutes and miles went by and then we found ourselves at South Coast Plaza. We parked and Bobby said "C'mon! We have to get there before they close!" Bad knee and all, we ran up the escalators and tried to get to H&M before they closed. It's one of my favorite stores but most importantly that despite a long day of girlie/wedding stuff and a bad knee and running up the escalators...Bobby tried to make me feel better with a little trip to H&M. It was incredibly thoughtful of him to go out of the way to make me smile....I didn't get to shop at H&M but we did have a great dinner at Stubrick's and laughed it off. His thoughtfulness and ability to make me laugh are just some of the reasons I love the cute boy in the picture....

You're a star Riley....you're a star!

A few weeks ago, Ms. Roo was asked by our Corp. Communications team to play the roll of "the puppy" in a PR video. This video will show people what happens to their dogs when they get dropped off for grooming. Riley was up for the de-shedding treatment role because of her coat (she's got great high and low lights!) and her ability to stay relatively calm around a bunch of people.

So a few Sundays ago...we drove to the store afterhours. The entire store was closed for Riley and two other dogs to roam around. Imagine how fun it is for a dog to be around all those toys, treats and all the cool dog things to sniff. Riley's "script" had her coming in, getting assessed, gettting a bath, dried, trimmed and de-shedded all while a camera and a photographed shot at the same time.

A little part of me wanted to play the "momager/manager" role but I didn't. I stayed out of the way and watched the bits and pieces that I could. Riley stayed calm through her bath, didn't freak out with the dryer, loved getting brushed...well... she pretty much nailed every first take....LOL! She posed for pictures, stood still when they asked....and got tons of compliments for both the camera guy and the photographer.

After she finished her shoot, she got a few treats...lots of love and attention from the staff....and mom just knows that Riley's a star! She didn't actually get paid....but man did she look good after that grooming session. Plus, the bag of peanut butter chews mom got for her and her sister doesn't hurt either. ;)

PS: In case you're wondering....Callie is bit of drama queen when it comes to the groomers...she starts to  whine for no reason. She's just not a fan of getting baths and I don't think that would translate well on camera.

Bobby is….”The Scanner!”

We are officially in full on “wedding planning mode!” It’s been a year a half since we got engaged and I really want to enjoy this stage in my life (and say the word “fiancee” as much as possible!) so right after the holidays we started to pick up the pace…

We wanted to find just the right place to get married and we figured everything else would just fall into place. I have to admit, that thinking was just a little bit off. You have to put some thought into the day or it could easily get out of control. I do believe in the “to each her own” mentality however, early on…. I decided to go with my instinct when it came to all the details. I tend to get caught up in all details when it comes to….pretty much anything…so I decided to focus on the “right” details rather than all the wedding details. I just don’t want to be this girl….

Truvy: What are your colors, Shelby?

Shelby: My colors are "blush" and "bashful."

M'Lynn: Her colors are "pink" and pink."

Shelby: My colors are "blush" and "bashful" Mama!

M'Lynn: How pretentious is this weddin' gonna get, I ask you?

“Steel Magnolias”

Two weeks ago, we began the process of registering. Bobby was “The Scanner” and I was once again…”the details girl.” I have to admit…I think we were both disappointed when Crate & Barrel and Macy’s gave us boring hand-held scanners (rather than the fun scanning gun) to use. So many things to hem and haw over....and one can easily get overwhelmed. After about two hours, we were both exhausted and gave up the scanner and decided to finish up the next weekend.

Fast forward to the next weekend….Target was much cooler…they gave us a real scanning gun! We considered running around the store, playing cops with the scanner and shoot at random stuff but were adults about it…we settled for Bobby in his debonair James Bond pose with the scanner. It’s hard to keep a straight face when we are standing in the middle of Target and I’m trying to have Bobby arch one eyebrow and then another! Why oh why didn’t I have my camera with me?!?!? One of these days...I'm going to catch that face with my camera…in the meantime, life is still for the dogs…
